Obey Obama and Bombing Propaganda

December 16th, 2011 Comments off

american democraticsYou are probably thinking that an article with the words Obey Obama and bombing propaganda in the title is some sort of reference to US politics and terrorism. Sadly it is a much more lighthearted affair. This is the tale of what happens when a street artist decides to back the first African American democrat leader in his campaign to become President of the USA.

Bombing is a reference to street bombing, a term which describes the process of pasting posters and stickers across a city in an effort to promote an event or cause. The street artist in question is Frank Shepard Fairey, an artist who has not only been doing this for over 20 years but has turned his Obey Giant propaganda into a brand in its own right.

Shepard Fairey was an art student who accidentally became an iconic street artist after jokingly making a sticker featuring the wrestler Andre the Giant and the phrase “Andre the Giant has a posse”. Since then Shepard’s reputation has grown and he is now a respected street artist who has had exhibitions of his work displayed around the world and the Obey brand has also grown. Obey clothing is now a clothing company in its own right having been operating for 7 years. His Obey Giant organisation continues to produce street art and he directs a design company called Subliminal Projects.

Despite all this commercial success Fairey has remained true to his roots. He still hits the streets and fly posts his posters for all to see. Usually these posters are put in locations that have been scouted out for a number of days. Fairey has been frequently arrested by the police for criminal damage and trespassing allegations. So how did a graffiti artist becoming involved with a liberal black candidate? Read more…

They will have a tree section offering large B&B (ball and burlap) trees, covering all the shade trees, ornamentals, specimens and shrubs; as well as bareroot seedlings and liner stock. It is true that a good tree nursery will offer all of this, just as a preferred plant nursery will offer perennials, ferns, ground covers, wetland and berry plants, which would cover both native and exotic selections. However, the beauty of finding an ideal nursery or nurseries is finding all these products at one place.

A good online nursery or nurseries will do just this, not to mention making it easy to contact them either at their physical address and location, as well as by telephone (toll-free if long distance) and by email. This variety of methods to contact them clearly illustrates good business, as well as confidence in standing behind their business and their good name. It is an obvious display of caring for their customers, when they make themselves easy to find and communicate with. Good communication overrides good intentions, because good communication establishes understanding and leads to results, whereas good intention leads to procrastination and little or no results.
